SILENT AUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Each participant brings a gift he/she would like to donate. The item for auction may be newly purchased, re-gifted, gift cards or even services. The participant is to bring the item to be auctioned to the Holiday Party with a short description of the item along with the beginning “bid” price nicely presented in a gift bag or box. Some gifts may have their own container which is also acceptable.
Please make sure all items are “Gift Worthy” which holds a true value at the minimum of $10.00. A person may bid on his/her own item for if there is a gift that is “worth keeping” then the bid amount is sure to rise!
The silence will be that No one knows who bid on the items except the Bid Manager until the bids are closed. During this process, a slip of paper for the Bid Item in which one bids is given to the Bid Manager. The Bid Manager then posts only the amount of the highest bid of each item in efforts to spark some competition. This will be done only twice at 10-minute intervals, which allows participants to raise their amounts to gain the item.
There has been no particular goal set, but we would like to collect at the minimum $300. With 15 attendees who are willing to purchase a gift worth $20 we can meet that goal!
Samaritan House EDGE Donations:
The EDGE (Earning Dignity, Gaining Employment) provides comprehensive daytime support services to homeless men and women in our community who are seeking employment. The focus of The EDGE is unique — we challenge homeless men and women to develop their own job search strategies and hold them accountable for taking advantage of every opportunity to change their current circumstances.
We only work with individuals who are serious about leaving homelessness and ready to commit to a plan of action for rebuilding their lives.
Support Samaritan House by Donating Clothing and Supplies
An important part of our program is helping our guests look and feel their best – to build their self esteem and prepare for job interviews. You may have clothes or supplies that you no longer need that would make a tremendous difference in their success.
Please consider if you have any of the following items that Samaritan House guests need:
Clothing—Men’s and women’s clothing suitable for job-hunting and going to work, including dress shirts, suits, ties, shoes, slacks, dresses, coats, casual clothes, socks, new underwear, and pantyhose. Please be sure the undergarments are new.
Office Supplies—Pens, paper, notepads, memo pads, résumé paper, etc.
Toiletries—Travel sized or full size shampoo, soap, razors, lotion, deodorant, etc.
Start Time: 12:00pm
Date: 2010-12-16
